CBSE AI and computational thinking for Classes 3 to 8: what to plan

Updated November 2026 5 min read

CBSE has rolled out a curriculum on computational thinking and AI for Classes 3 to 8, starting with the 2026-27 session. This guide summarises what the public coverage says and suggests how a school can prepare.

What has been reported

  • The curriculum covers Classes 3 to 8 and begins in 2026-27.
  • It is to be integrated with existing subjects from the foundational stage, in line with NEP 2020 and the NCF-SE 2023.
  • Teacher training is planned through NISHTHA, covering lesson design, AI-based learning resources and the ethical use of technology.
  • The coverage we found does not mention labs or special hardware.

A planning list

These steps are KodeBee's suggestions, not CBSE requirements.

  • Read the latest CBSE circulars for your school and note which classes start when.
  • List the teachers who will take the classes and what training they have had.
  • Decide how the topics fit your timetable and existing subjects.
  • Use hands-on activities. Electronics and logic suit Classes 3 and 4, robotics suits Classes 5 to 7, and simple AI and connected devices suit Class 8.
  • Start in a normal classroom. A kit-based programme does not need a dedicated lab.
  • Keep a simple record of student projects.

Where KodeBee fits

Our kits and lessons follow the progression above: electronics and logic first, then robotics, then AI and IoT. Ask us for the current class-by-class mapping and we will share it.
